Os fungos s\u00e3o microrganismos muito adapt\u00e1veis que podem ser encontrados em quase todos os habitats ecol\u00f3gicos conhecidos. Eles desempenham pap\u00e9is importantes na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de alimentos, na deteriora\u00e7\u00e3o de alimentos, em doen\u00e7as de plantas e animais, na medicina, no controle biol\u00f3gico e na decomposi\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>

Estudos m\u00e9dicos recentes est\u00e3o descobrindo que infec\u00e7\u00f5es f\u00fangicas invasivas causadas por certos fungos, como Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus fumigatus, Candida albicans, Candida auris (https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/ goatsandsoda\/2022\/10\/26\/1131602076\/<\/a>) e outros est\u00e3o aumentando, especialmente em pacientes imunocomprometidos. Al\u00e9m disso, esses fungos invasivos est\u00e3o se tornando mais resistentes a medicamentos antif\u00fangicos, particularmente em infec\u00e7\u00f5es por Aspergillus.<\/p>

Muitos desses fungos podem produzir micotoxinas, que s\u00e3o metab\u00f3litos f\u00fangicos associados a uma s\u00e9rie de problemas de sa\u00fade em humanos e animais. Demonstrou-se que elas s\u00e3o carcinog\u00eanicas, imunossupressoras, hemorr\u00e1gicas, hepatot\u00f3xicas, mutag\u00eanicas, nefrot\u00f3xicas, neurot\u00f3xicas e teratog\u00eanicas.<\/p>

A especia\u00e7\u00e3o de fungos est\u00e1 se tornando crucial para a sele\u00e7\u00e3o de terapias adequadas. Descobertas recentes de novos fungos est\u00e3o mudando as vis\u00f5es tradicionais sobre contaminantes f\u00fangicos em ambientes internos.<\/p>

Na EMSL Analytical, Inc., realizamos testes de rotina para Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus fumigatus, Candida albicans e Candida auris, al\u00e9m de muitos outros pat\u00f3genos f\u00fangicos invasivos encontrados no meio ambiente. Para identificar esses fungos em n\u00edvel de esp\u00e9cie, utilizamos cultura f\u00fangica, testes moleculares de DNA ou uma combina\u00e7\u00e3o de ambos.<\/p>
